Extensive pre-assessment before laser eye surgery
A safe laser treatment starts with a thorough pre-assessment. Dr. Pinxten uses the most modern diagnostic equipment for this purpose. A personalised treatment is drawn up for every eye.
Which examinations are performed?
The exact strength of myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism is measured repeatedly: first automatically, then manually by the ophthalmologist.
A general eye check rules out glaucoma or other abnormalities that may influence the choice of technique.
The pupil size and quality of the tear film also determine eligibility and help prevent dry-eye complaints after the procedure.
Fundoscopy and a slit-lamp examination map the whole eye.

Complete corneal scan
In a few seconds the Pentacam maps the full shape, thickness and curvature of the cornea. With this tomography, Dr. Pinxten rules out keratoconus or other abnormalities and determines how much tissue can safely be treated with the laser.

Personalised treatment
With the Zeiss CRS Master a personalised treatment plan is drawn up for each eye. The CRS Master and the ZEISS MEL 90 excimer laser form an ideal combination for performing personalised laser treatments.
The result: fewer complaints of reduced night vision, halos and loss of contrast sensitivity.
Important before the pre-assessment
Contact lenses must be left out for a certain period before the pre-assessment and before the treatment, otherwise the corneal measurement is not reliable:
- • Hard lenses: 3 weeks
- • Toric soft lenses: 3 weeks
- • Night lenses (ortho-K): 3 weeks
- • Soft lenses: 2 weeks
