Premium IOLs — supplement
Comfort (EDOF) and multifocal IOLs, like multifocal glasses and contact lenses, are not reimbursed by the health insurance. A personal supplement applies, depending on:
- The chosen lens model (EDOF, trifocal, toric variant…)
- Whether astigmatism needs to be corrected
- The hospital where the surgery takes place
Before surgery, the surgeon gives you a detailed price estimate with every item clearly listed, so you know exactly what to expect.
How does billing work?
- Consultation, pre-operative work-up & IOL calculation fees: paid at the practice, with a certificate for reimbursement by your health insurance. A small extra fee may apply for additional measurements/calculations for a premium IOL.
- Hospital bill: sent by AZ Zeno a few weeks after surgery. It includes the patient share for the procedure, the IOL and any supplement for a premium lens.
- Hospital insurance: forward the invoice to your insurer. The patient share is often reimbursed.
Second eye
Are both eyes operated on? The same arrangement applies to both procedures. Usually we operate the two eyes about 1–2 weeks apart.
Exact prices vary by IOL model and may change. For your personal estimate, you can come to the consultation or contact our team.
